Coffee Ground “Fossils”

Create “fossils” with an adapted salt-dough recipe to make them look authentic and, well, fun!
You will need the following supplies:

  1. 1 cup of used coffee grounds
  2. 1/2 cup of cold coffee
  3. 1 cup of flour
  4. 1/2 cup of salt
  5. Wax paper
  6. Mixing bowl
  7. Some small objects to make impressions in the dough (Shaped cookie cutters work well.)
  8. Empty can/Circle Cookie Cutter/
  9. ‘Toothpick, optional
  10. String to hang your fossil, optional

From here, you will stir together items 1 through 4 until mixed well and then knead the dough.
Roll the dough out on waxed paper and use a soup can or cookie cutter to create circle shapes.
Now that you have your circles, press the cookie cutter shapes to create the “fossil”.
At this time, you will want to create a circle divit with a toothpick for hanging later with string.
After drying for 48 hours, you will have a “fossil” to display as you wish!

Thank you to Kaboose for this wonderful Earth Day craft!

Enjoy,
🙂 Heather
